The development of values of professional sports education became especially acute recently. The values are of great importance not only for modernization of professional training, but also for the development of the theory of physical training, as a kind of culture. The analysis and generalization of the data of special literature, the methods of comparison, induction, deduction, and a content-analysis were applied in the research. More than 600 sources, among which curricula, the state educational standards, other normative documents, periodicals, methodical manuals, dictionaries, scientific articles, monographies, dissertations were investigated for the period from 1994 till 2004. According to the authors' opinion, it is necessary to take into account the features of functioning of values in professional sports education to comprehend ways and mechanisms of the achievement of these values by the future specialists, and also the ways of formation of certain valuable orientations. Also, interrelation and continuity of values general cultural, specific (professional) and personal character is considered to be one of perspective directions in training of the sports staff by the authors.
