    The authors of this publication work in Australia now, but their work passed in the Russian sport during long time. They tried to reveal the similarities and the distinctions, the advantages and the lacks of sport science systems in Russia and Australia. It's just a view of the practical workers on two systems of sport science in-and-out: 1. Similarity: sources of financing, institutes of sports, direction of activity; 2. Distinction: organization of a work, the structure, the staff training; 3. Advantage of each of systems: the complex and the specialized approach, the arrangement of priorities and the circuit of financing, traditions and the level of research work. 4. Model of the sports science. The basic principles of optimum system should be: the priority of practical activity in the system of financing, orientation to the consumer and complex approach, the sufficiency and the professionalism in staff training.
