    The development of the Olimpism as the most authoritative and organized form of the international sports movement became stimulus for the construction of the new Olympic sports complexes, in which Olympiads of XXth century were carried out. The researchers of this theme have analyzed the information on literary and archival sources for the period from 1896 till 1996, and in the course of the inspection of Olympic stadiums both at the period of their construction, and during Olympic games also. The analysis of modern Olympic complexes in the cyclic rhythm of their development: during Olympiads (4-year's rhythm); the 6-8-year period of the preparation of the project and sportcomplexes construction; the basic period - 2-3 weeks of use for competitions during Olympic games; the beginning of postolympic use both subsequent operation and modernization. In stages of their historical becoming it is possible to allocate four periods: 1896-1908 - the initial period; 1920-1936 - the period before the Second world war; 1948-1956 - the period of the reconstruction of stadiums; 1960-1980 the period of the mature development; 1980-1996 - the final stage of the modern development of Olympic stadiums in the XXth century.
