    The purpose of this research was to study the attitude of the adult population of Byelorussia to employment by physical culture. The questionnaire was carried out in 1999 - 2000. 1580 representatives of the adult population of various Byelorussian regions have taken part in the research. The sample is characterized by the sex parameter: men - 750 (47, 5 %), women - 830 (52, 5 %). The high enough level of the verbal interest to occupations by physical culture was investigated. The results of interrogation have shown, that 78, 7 % of men and 69, 4 % of women have expressed desire to be engaged in physical exercises. While unwillingness to be engaged has made at men 8, 2 %, at women - 14, 6 %; is indifferent - 7, 2 and 7, 7 % accordingly. The carried out concrete sociological researches have confirmed, that the degree of the real involving of the adult population in active sport-improving occupations after disintegration of Soviet Union has decreased considerably. The special concern is caused by the fact, that it is the characteristic for persons of the adult population first of all.
