    The purpose of the research was the consideration of the opportunities of the use of physical culture in the solving of some social problems of "clients" which, undoubtedly, can enrich and increase the efficiency of activity of a specialist in social work. According to the authors' opinion, the solving of social problems of various "clients" during professional activity of the specialist can be also considered through the realization of functions of physical culture. The author allocates the following functions: the specific one - which lies in the salutary influence of sports activity on changes of physical development of an individual and his (her) health condition; the social one - which promotes the socialization and integration of an individual in society; the professional-applied one - which provides the achievement of professionalism in labour activity; the information one - which saves up, distributes and transfers the data about a person, his (her) abilities, means and ways of their increase; The aesthetic one - it is directed to the satisfaction of human needs for physical perfection, health and harmonious development.
