    The purpose of this paper is the analysis of the selected aspects of the quality of school physical culture, with the stress on criteria and attempts of their standardization undertaken in the European countries. The author has revealed a big similarity of the opinions expressed by the Polish pupils and their coevals from the Western Europe, concerning the quality of the organization of physical culture at school. The criteria of the estimation of a pupil determined by the educational authority on physical culture, working in a Polish school and in the majority of the European countries, specify the superiority of the axiological competence over the instrumental one. In the opinion of the author, the problems of the quality of the organization of physical culture demands more serious survey and comparative researches.
