    The article presents the results of researches of the author on justification of pedagogical model of adaptation of experts on protection in emergency situations to professional activity in higher education institution. This model includes the characteristic of the content of activity of the teachers and students on formation of the personal qualities necessary for the experts in protection in emergency situations. The abilities having shown in it need to be developed among the students for the successful adaptation to the professional activity. They are the following: the abilities to take the correct decisions concerning themselves; to suppress own uncertainty; to define character, contents and to analyze the results of the activity depending on the situation; to represent the most effective ways of achievement of the objectives of educational activity in higher education institution and professional activity after its termination. This model has defined the personal qualities necessary for the practical realization of the specified abilities, methodical skills, forms, and the ways of formation of these qualities at the stage of adaptation of students to professional activity in higher education institution.
